I. (a) Aim of the Hobby Workshop :
This Hobby Workshop was established in 1960 by the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University under the scheme of University Grand Commission in order to develop the creative part of personality of University students by guiding them in various hobbies. The hobbies in which guidance is provided at present are as under :
1. Wood Art
2. Electronics
3. Photography
4. Clay Modeling & Painting
The activity is solely considered as an extra-curricular one to be carried outside the college hours. It does not form a part of general education or vocational training.

A year is split up in four terms as follows:
1. 1st March to 30th April
2. 15th May to 15th July
3. 1st August to 15th October
4. 15th November to 31st January
The Workshop building is centrally located for the convenience of students of affiliated colleges of Nagpur District and other and stand in the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Premises of R.T.M. Nagpur Universtiy, opposite Maharajbag, Rabindranath Tagore Marg, Nagpur- 440 001.
An exhibition of the articles prepared by the students in the Workshop through the year, is held generally in the month of January at the time of the Social Gathering. This forms a part of Publicity of the Workshop in the Student World and in the general public.
Besides the annual exhibition of the articles held in the Workshop the Foreman arranges Lectures in the different Colleges and high Schools to acquaint the students with the activity of the hobby workshop. Talks about the workshop.
The hobby Workshop has the facility of public address sound systems which it provides from time to time as per the requirements of the University administration for public functions, meetings and gatherings at Convocation Hall. (including those of the senate meetings and the Academic Council meeting & Lecturers series).
The Workshop also makes arrangements for the sound system and program recording of the University’s convocation ceremonies every year.
In tune which the changing times and demands of the globalised economy, some new courses as under are proposed.
