About Us

The Department has been founded in 1968. The existing building has 1246.20 Sq. m. built up area in the Mahatma Jyotiba Phuley Campus, Amravati Road, Nagpur. The Department of Home Science is successfully running Post Graduate Courses in Food Science & Nutrition and Resource Management, M.Phil and Ph.D. programme in all specializations in Home Science. It is a recognized study center for Masters in Dietetics and Food Service Management of Indira Gandhi Open University Programme. The Department has well equipped laboratories for Nutritional Bio-chemistry, Advanced Food Science and Ergonomics. The departmental library is regularly updated with current books and journals and is provided with internet facility.

B.Sc.Home Science; M.B.B.S.; B.Sc.with PG.Diploma in Dietetics; B.Sc. with Nutrition of the University or any other statutory University recognized equivalent thereto.

 

Resource Management
B.Sc.Home Science; M.A. Home Economics of the University or any other statutory University    recognized equivalent thereto.

M.Phil Programme : 
Total number of seats : 21
The Eligibility Criteria for the admission to the M.Phil Programme is purely on the basis of Merit. 20 seats are reserved for students of  Nagpur University and 1 seat for Other university. 50% on Merit basis & (50% for reservation)
M.Sc. in Food Science & Nutrition or Resource Management or Textiles & Clothing or Human Development or Home Science Extension or M Tech in Cosmetic Technology or Hospitality Management.

Faculty

Mrs. Shubhada V. Jambhulkar

Assistant Professor

Mrs. Shubhada V. Jambhulkar is the Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Home Science. She is a Post Graduate in a Food & Nutrition from Nagpur University. She has done her graduation in Home Science from L.A.D. College, Seminary Hills, Nagpur. She joined the department of Home Science, as a lecturer in Food & Nutrition in 2003. She was a faculty in Food & Nutrition for under graduate students for 03 years at Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalay, Nagpur. Her areas of special interests are Community Nutrition and Product Development. She is the N.S.S. co-ordinator of the department and has carried out Nutrition Education programmes in rural and tribal areas. She is currently pursuing her doctoral research under the guidance of Dr. Sabiha Vali. She is working on UGC minor research project. She has guided 20 students for M.Sc. dissertation. She has attended National & International seminars conferences and workshops.
