About Us

 

The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1964 with Professor B.G. Mohoni as its first head. Subsequently Dr. T.N. Valunjkar, Dr. P.L. Bhandarkar, who also became the Vice-Chancellor of the University, and Dr. P.S. Bobde, in their capacity as Professor and head, provided an able stewardship for the academic excellence of the department. Over the years the department has maintained the tradition of excellence in teaching, research and personal guidance to students for career choice and development. The department has more than 2000 alumnus spread over the country and abroad, pursuing varied professional, administrative, teaching and research assignments.

Admission Procedure

The aspiring candidates are required to obtain application forms for admission on a payment of Rs. 10/- from the office of the Department of Sociology, Mahatma Fuley Educational Campus, RTM Nagpur University, Amravati Road, Nagpur. The forms duly filled by the candidates need to be submitted and registered in the department along with the true copies of marksheets of last examinations and a payment of Rs. 25/- as registration fee. Later on the list of the selected candidates on the basis of merit, caste and other category will be displayed on the Notice Board of the department. The candidates seeking admission are required to submit their original College Leaving Certificate in the office of the department and deposit the admission fee either in the Bank of India or in the Bank of Maharashtra on or before the last date of admission fixed by the University.

Eligibility for Admission

 

  • The candidates possessing bachelor degree in any faculty such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Medicine, Engineering, etc. from Nagpur University as well as outside are eligible for admission.

  • However, the candidates from other Universities seeking admission to M.A. Sociology from RTM Nagpur University are required to obtain an eligibility certificate from RTM Nagpur University and submit their original documents along with the Migration Certificate issued by the University last attended by them.
